i made this for my pleasure, to windows 8 version 8250 consumers preview.

hex editing (hex editor) + resourse hacker
a quiq osx style approach selecting folders via code [re] made to explorerframe.dll (i had to re writte some parts of the code).

this theme is unfinished, and not have any plants about it, since necessities of real life.

shell32.dll can not be modified as if we do, system restore to a previous restore point.

the good points of win 8 are that they have been made to be used to many machines/proccessors and versions, better security etc the bad are, not ease modification, no start menu [like the old we know], upper ribbon consisted area to the upper part of the window always appearing with no ability to compete hide it [only we can become it smaller], as also opened always status bar to the bottom of the window with no ability to hide it.
==============

upper light blue area consists ribbon and ribbon's color appearance consist a rape to our senses.

some of those people in microsoft have not any criteria or measurement of aesthetics !

at least they had to make an extra button to explorer top left area for totaly hidding/appearing the upper light blue area consists the ribbon's looking shame.

from 2006 microsoft advertises the transparency looking of their os , now the only big surface remained transparent is the part of titlebar !!!
==============

without a program is difficult for themming . so a theme need a lot of time to be made (and i haven't) , so i made some parts of the explorer only (even those not totaly finished), no taskbar code or start menu images or code.

--------------------

if Panda x make his new application in future and if i find time i could make another approach, though not sure .

Still active? Could you help me in hex editing NORMAL.RES from WIN8 RTM aero theme? I beg you, I just want to activate the glow behind the text in window title. Already added the glow image using WindowsStyleBuilder 1.5.4.6 BETA but I need to hex edit the res to enable it. Thank you.

Oh how this picture made me imagine all the future custom visual styles for Windows 8. I really miss using my Shine 2.0 back on Windows 7. Thanks for the picture.

This is the start of visual style modding in Windows 8 even if it's painfully slow. :P

first we have to find 2 more things:
where exist= the location of the light blue images of the ribbon, as also the mouse over button images of ribbon (they are not inside the mstyle)
how can we bypass the problem that if we modify shell32.dll or explorer.exe the system reacts and restore in a previews restore point after restart (or sometimes crashed).

possible not ever found those, so not a serious art modification could be made.
